Chip Hackler grew up taking pictures of his dog in the yard (the only subject he could find). his interest in photography, combined with an interest in stories and literature, led to filmmaking.
hackler has an mfa in screenwriting and has worked on camera crews for movies including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Interview with the Vampire, and Iron Man III. he has served on the nc governor's film council and is a professor and founding member of unc-wilmington's film studies department.
hackler's short films portray people seeking connection in comedic, dramatic, and unexpected situations. his films have screened at international film festivals and on unc public television. it's thanks to family and friends, and some wonderful collaborators (like joe, Adam, nicholas, pootie and Nuno) that these films exist at all.
